Welcome to the Wiki of the ESGAP Open Virtual Learning Community (OVLC)

I. General Info

ESGAP/ESCMID-OVLC is being created to provide resources (information & tools) and guidance with an educational focus to foster antimicrobial stewardship among healthcare professionals. Its aims are to:
  • Provide a platform for showcasing, dissemination and highlighting good practice of antimicrobial use
  • Promote opinion exchanges and debate regarding antimicrobial use, policy and stewardship
  • Facilitate the co-ordination of pragmatic clinical practice surveys of stewardship activity
  • Make this tool available also for other ESCMID study groups

We have chosen a wiki as a tool to help to develop the ESGAP-OVLC site, since active participation of all collaborators is required.

II. Access and capabilities

The vast majority of ESGA- OVLC contents will remain access free at the internet, without need of subscription. Nevertheless site management areas will be restricted to ESGAP-OVLC administrators and collaborators, which should have privileges to modify contents. ESGAP-OVLC should have associated a within-site search tool.

ESGAP-OVLC subscription should:
  • permit RSS feeds subscriptions
  • have a live chat tool for debates
  • have survey capabilities
  • be in relation with a specific twitter account

III. Format and development

ESGAP OVLC is a web-based platform and its resources are categorized in:
  • Dynamic content-based web pages including clinically useful information and links to improve antimicrobial use
  • Weblog: news, events, debates, surveys

Web pages contents and weblog entries will be developed by ESGAP designated collaborators and will be coordinated by Stephan Harbarth, Leonardo Pagani and José R Paño

IV. Contents

Currently, static contents are being developed in order to build an attractive website. In order to have a website that attracts professional for discussion, it is necessary to compile a critical mass of useful information and resources.

In this document the an interim Site Map of the static part of the ESGAP AS-OVLC is proposed. “Implementation of AS” and “Literature/Conferences/Meetings” have been developed to a larger extent as a sample.

For every of the “Chapters”, information regarding resources(tools) and references should be added. Distribution of “chapters” between contributors is essential.
